Throughout my life, I have been driven by a deep sense of purpose rooted in caring for others and making a meaningful difference in their lives. My greatest dream is to advance my career in healthcare to directly impact patient outcomes and contribute to the development of innovative treatments. This mission stems from my extensive experience in the medical field, where I found profound fulfillment in helping patients and supporting their journey towards health and recovery. My passion for this work is fueled by a desire to alleviate suffering and improve quality of life, especially for those battling illnesses like cancer. Although I have not yet achieved complete mastery of this goal, my career so far has been a testament to my dedication and commitment.

My journey began over seven years ago when I started working as a medical assistant. During this time, I found joy and purpose in assisting with procedures, managing medical supplies, and communicating critical test results. As I gained experience, I progressed to become a lead medical assistant, which allowed me to develop organizational skills and leadership abilities. I also became certified in healthcare provider skills and familiarized myself with medical terminology, further enhancing my capacity to serve patients effectively. Some of my responsibilities included preparing treatment areas, assisting with minor surgeries, handling laboratory samples, and maintaining accurate records. This comprehensive involvement in patient care cemented my passion for healthcare and reinforced my desire to pursue further professional growth.

In addition to my clinical work, I have always been interested in the broader aspects of healthcare service delivery. I worked as a Filing Manufacturing Technician I in a pharmaceutical company, where I developed a passion for drug manufacturing—particularly for medications that help cancer patients. My dedication to this cause motivated me to take additional classes and rise to the role of a master technician and Subject Matter Expert (SME). This position provided me with invaluable insights into the end-to-end drug development process and reinforced my commitment to supporting life-saving treatments. Supporting patients suffering from cancer through these efforts became my mission, fueling my desire to contribute to medical advancements that can transform lives.

Currently, I am working as a Business Analyst in Material Management at a pharmaceutical company, where I manage projects that span over 17 years. My current role involves streamlining processes and supporting clinical trial management, which aligns with my long-term goal of engaging more directly with patient-centered care. I am motivated to transition into clinical trial management to support patient needs more tangibly. I aspire to work on clinical trials to help bring new treatments to market, ultimately benefiting patients who need innovative therapies. My passion for this goal is intertwined with my desire to make a tangible difference in patient welfare and healthcare delivery.

However, despite my dedication, certain obstacles have hindered the pursuit of my full potential. One significant challenge has been financial constraints, which prevented me from completing my degree earlier. For over 15 years, I wanted to advance my education but was limited by family obligations and the need to support my children’s education and well-being. Additionally, I faced setbacks in career advancement, such as not being promoted to a project manager role, partly due to lacking a formal business degree. These barriers slowed my progress but did not diminish my commitment to achieve my goals.

Fortunately, with my children now in college and my current employer offering tuition reimbursement, I plan to resume and complete my Business Degree. This educational step is vital for me to qualify for higher-level positions, such as project management, and to deepen my understanding of clinical trial processes. In the future, I intend to enroll in courses related to clinical research, pharmacology, and regulatory affairs to enhance my knowledge and skills. This strategic combination of education and experience will enable me to support clinical trials effectively, ensuring that patients receive safe and innovative therapies.

Looking ahead, I am committed to taking specific steps to realize my mission. First, I will complete my business degree and pursue certifications related to clinical research. Second, I will seek opportunities within my current organization to gain hands-on experience in clinical trial management. Third, I will develop a network with professionals in clinical research to learn from their expertise and stay abreast of industry advancements. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute meaningfully to the development and management of clinical trials, ensuring that patients have access to cutting-edge treatments that can improve their quality of life.
