1. Describe your extenuating circumstances (provide documentation). I had very difficult and uncontrollable circumstances during my courses which unfortunately affect my studying, exams, and grades too. Factors are the following: 1- my best friend death 2-family special issue 3- mother's sickness.
2. Academic suspension occurs only after several quarters of failing academic performance. What were the factors that caused you to experience several quarters of such academic performance? (You may provide information or documentation which might assist the committee in making a decision regarding your appeal). Because I'm the eldest son and looking after my 11 sisters and brothers I passed the ESL and became a regular student. Everything was smooth but unfortunately in the second quarter, I faced difficult major factors. First, my friends passed the gate. He is my best & close friend. He called me once to write a poem for his wedding which was supposed to be at the end of Aug. 2013 so I felt depressed and I couldn't study well. Secondly, my family passed through misunderstanding and conflict Because I'm the eldest one and I have to solve all of their problems. I had to call them twice and more just to make sure things are right. I tried to drop the quarter and go back home, but I couldn't coordinate with because of the scholarship's roles. Thirdly, my mother passed through health problems. She was sick in her nerve cells in her brain. Therefore, I felt depressed, my mind was busy, and worried all the time thinking about my family.
3. What has changed related to the above issues and what adjustments will you make to ensure a more successful academic performance on your part? Those might be not good enough reasons to count for, but it's really hard to control emotions and avoid those bad situations, which came consecutive. Even with these factors, I blame myself and believe I’m responsible for this failure. Yet, if I could reinstate to CWU, many things would change. I could get over my best friend's death, solve the family's issues, and my mother is treated. Also, from those experiences, I have learned how to control problems and emotions without involving them in my career or studying to achieve my goals and dreams.
4. What is your proposed plan of action and what individuals or programs will you make arrangements with so they can offer support to you, if you are reinstated to CWU? (Please be very specific). I have a plan of action if I am reinstated to CWU. Firstly, I will learn more about university's roles and systems and keep contacting my advisors to avoid such suspensions or other situations. Secondly, I will do my assignments on time and contact my professors if I have any trouble to help me maintain good grades. Thirdly, I will add extra hours of studying to make up what I missed and increase my GPA; as well, I will avoid any home calls in weekdays to focus on studying. Lastly, I will join study groups and participate in college programs and communities like the international club to have a constructive environment that helps me stay active and motivated to achieve good results.
