Additionally, scholarly research on Indian and Japanese cultures is reviewed to compare and contrast these portrayals with broader cultural characteristics and to assess personal reactions to immersing in these cultures.

Japanese anime reflects a high value on discipline and respect, which can sometimes conflict with Western notions of personal freedom and expression. These differences point to underlying societal priorities—community versus individualism, tradition versus innovation.

Immersion and Personal Reflection

If I were to visit Japan, I believe I would experience some culture shock, particularly in the areas of social hierarchy, communication style, and customs like bowing or removing shoes indoors. Similarly, visiting India would expose me to vibrant traditions, busy street life, and traditional practices that differ significantly from Western norms. Although challenging, immersion could be enriching and educational.

Living in either culture would require adaptability and openness. The hierarchical respect in Japan and the familial emphasis in Indian society are appealing but may also pose difficulties for someone accustomed to Western individualism. I would be enthusiastic about experiencing these cultures firsthand and learning their values through direct engagement.

Conclusion

Media such as films and anime serve as valuable tools for exploring and understanding world cultures. Analyzing "Dangal" from India and Japanese anime reveals rich cultural differences rooted in societal values, traditions, and norms. Such portrayals enhance cultural awareness and promote a broader perspective.
