It is strongly recommended that you read this case study before attempting an assignment. Also, it is mandatory that you to attempt all assignment questions in the order they are presented in. Reflect on the different tasks and roles you learned about in this course. Identify at least (two) 2 skills you would need to be a project manager and discuss what you can do to develop those skills. Based on the coursework and case study provided in "Project Management Case.docx," two critical skills that a project manager must develop are communication skills and leadership abilities. These skills serve as the foundation for managing teams, stakeholders, and project tasks effectively.
First, communication skills are paramount for a project manager. The ability to convey information clearly, listen actively, and facilitate open dialogue among team members and stakeholders determines the clarity of project objectives, expectations, and progress. Effective communication reduces misunderstandings, manages stakeholder expectations, and fosters collaboration. To develop this skill, aspiring project managers can undertake training in interpersonal communication, participate in public speaking engagements, and seek feedback on their communication styles. Additionally, practicing active listening during meetings and seeking opportunities to present or relay project updates can strengthen this competency (Burke, 2013).

Alternatively, a career as a Project Management Consultant allows individuals to leverage their expertise across various organizations, providing guidance and best practices for project execution. Both careers enable the application of project management principles beyond traditional project leadership, offering opportunities for influence and specialization within the field.
In conclusion, developing essential skills like communication and leadership is crucial for effective project management. Continuous learning through training, practical experience, and mentorship can significantly enhance these competencies. Exploring related careers such as program management or consultancy not only diversifies professional opportunities but also allows one to apply project management skills in broader contexts, contributing to organizational success and personal growth.
