Paper For Above instruction
Academic integrity forms the foundation of scholarly work and professional conduct, serving as a cornerstone for trust, credibility, and ethical responsibility in both academic and nursing professions. The relationship between academic integrity and writing is intrinsically linked; honest scholarly writing necessitates originality, proper attribution, and avoidance of plagiarism. According to the American Psychological Association (2020), maintaining integrity in writing involves accurately representing sources, paraphrasing appropriately, and citing all references to avoid plagiarism. Proper writing practices, such as paraphrasing and citation, not only uphold academic standards but also foster critical thinking and respect for intellectual property. When students adhere to these principles, they develop habits that translate into professional settings, ensuring that their nursing practice remains ethical, transparent, and accountable. The connection is reinforced through ethical guidelines outlined in nursing codes of conduct, such as the American Nurses Association (2015), which emphasize honesty, accountability, and integrity in patient care and professional interactions.
Furthermore, scholarly ethics extend beyond individual writing to encompass professional practices in nursing. Professional integrity involves committed adherence to ethical principles, including beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice, which guide nurses in making ethically sound decisions. As Glasper (2016) highlights, breaches in integrity, such as cheating or malpractice, threaten public trust and compromise the profession's moral standards. The nursing profession requires consistent reflection on ethical principles, reinforced through ongoing education on scholarly ethics, and adherence to organizational policies. The integration of academic ethics into professional nursing practices ensures continuous commitment to integrity, accountability, and respect for patients' rights. The continuous alignment of academic and professional ethics sustains the credibility of nursing practice and the trust placed in healthcare providers by society.
To maintain integrity and uphold ethical standards, I plan to utilize several strategies both as a student in the MSN or PMC program and as a practicing nurse. As a student, I will rely on tools like Grammarly to ensure grammatical accuracy and clarity, and Turnitin to verify the originality of my work, thereby preventing accidental plagiarism. Additionally, I will develop disciplined habits for paraphrasing, summarizing, and citing sources accurately, in keeping with APA guidelines (Walden University Writing Center, n.d.). These practices will help me produce authentic and ethically sound academic work. As a nurse, I will adhere strictly to the ANA Code of Ethics (2015), emphasizing accountability, honesty, and advocacy. Continuous professional development through ethical training, peer discussions, and mentoring will also reinforce my commitment to professional integrity. Resources such as the NLN Ethical Principles provide a framework for ethical decision-making in education and practice, which I will incorporate into my daily professional activities (NLN, 2012). Moreover, I will stay informed on current ethical standards and develop reflective habits to evaluate my actions in both academic and clinical settings, ensuring that my dedication to integrity remains steadfast throughout my career.
