Biographical Inventory Guidelines Find An Individual Currently Workin

Find an individual currently working in the field that you are planning to go into. Reach out via email to see if they would be receptive to doing an interview with you. Once you find a suitable candidate, set up a time for the interview (phone is okay). You will then write a biographical inventory of the individual’s life and career. Your paper must be 5 – 7 double spaced pages (11 pt font) and include the following:

  • A brief introductory section describing your career goals and your reasons for choosing the individual (1/2 – 1 page)
  • A section detailing the life and career of the individual focusing on key decisions and choices that led to their current position (1 ½ - 2 pages)
  • A section describing the organization that he/she currently works for and their position within that organization (2 - 3 pages)
  • Your conclusions from the interview. Describe what you learned that will help you on your own career path. What changes will you make? (1/2 – 1 page)

Before conducting the interview, you need to research the individual and the company beforehand to come up with set of interview questions. You are free to deviate and ask follow-up questions. These questions must be turned in with your paper. The date, time and location of the interview must also be included in your paper.
