The use of technology in the field of education is increasing constantly with the increase in technology arena. Online education and online courses are paving their way and credibly replacing the traditional style of teaching and education. The main concern about online education and online courses is the lack of creativity, voice inflections, gestures, presentation, personal exposure, etc. During online courses, students cannot benefit from face-to-face classroom interaction, and the level of engagement slows down considerably (Narozny, 2010). Digital media is used in online learning and courses to overcome this issue and to integrate technology effectively with the online educational environment.

Digital media addresses these concerns by enhancing presentation quality in online courses. It enables creativity by allowing inclusion of diverse materials, ensuring that content meets comfort and acceptability criteria (Venable, 2011). The integration of digital media through videos, podcasts, and desktop videos makes content more engaging and accessible, thereby increasing student interest and facilitating the application of their creative skills.

The incorporation of digital media fosters flexibility, persistence, and playfulness within online courses. It enhances researchers' capacity to work on specific subjects and adapt to technological changes. Digital media broadens learning scope by allowing education anywhere and anytime, enabling learners to articulate themselves effortlessly via innovative platforms. This approach promotes composite thinking, better decision-making, and improved problem-solving skills (Venable, 2011).

Furthermore, digital media stimulates curiosity, provides an open platform for performing and analyzing learning activities, and offers creative and valuable information that can be molded for further research or learning. It supports development of reflective thinking and critical analysis related to educational content, aiding better content comprehension in online settings (Scholz, 2011). However, effective use of digital media necessitates continuous experimentation with new technological phases, requiring ongoing updates from both teachers and learners.

Despite its benefits, digital media introduces some adverse effects. It may cause stress and discomfort by placing learners and teachers outside their comfort zones as they adapt to new technologies. The increasing expectations and demands for integration skills can overwhelm learners, and multiple options might create confusion rather than clarity. Frequent content updates and complex retrieval processes further add to the challenge, ethically balancing the positives against potential complexities.

In conclusion, digital media significantly expands the teaching and learning landscape, making content more appealing and engagement-driven. Its ability to foster interest and participation in online courses marks a transformative step in digital education. Nonetheless, it also demands ongoing learning and adaptation from users, with potential drawbacks related to complexity and overload. Overall, the positive impacts of digital media tend to outweigh the negatives, empowering learners and educators alike to enhance their educational experience (Narozny, 2010).
