A comprehensive understanding of these hurdles is essential for stakeholders aiming to leverage AI optimally while mitigating associated risks.
One primary challenge in utilizing AI in business entities pertains to the high costs of development and implementation. Developing sophisticated AI models requires substantial investment in specialized infrastructure, talented personnel, and extensive data collection and processing capabilities. The financial burden can be prohibitive, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises that lack the resource base of large corporations (Metz, 2021). Despite these challenges, the potential benefits of AI continue to drive investment and innovation. It is critical for organizations to develop strategic approaches that address these hurdles proactively. This includes investing in ethical AI frameworks, fostering organizational change, ensuring data integrity, and aligning AI initiatives with broader business objectives. Collaboration among technologists, policymakers, and social scientists is necessary to develop standards and best practices that maximize AI’s benefits while minimizing its risks.
