The supply chain domain encompasses diverse roles such as logistics manager, procurement specialist, supply chain analyst, and operations manager, each requiring specific skills and competencies (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals [CSCMP], 2020). After exploring these options through professional organizations such as the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), I have identified a career as a supply chain analyst as most suitable for my interests and strengths.
I selected the role of a supply chain analyst because it combines analytical skills with opportunities to impact overall operational efficiency. My strengths include strong quantitative skills, problem-solving abilities, and familiarity with data analysis tools like Excel and SQL. These skills align well with the technical demands of the role. Conversely, my weaknesses include limited experience in international logistics and some communication skills, which I recognize as areas for improvement to become proficient in cross-functional collaboration and negotiations.
My primary concern about pursuing this career is the dynamic nature of global supply chains, especially amid disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions or pandemics, which can introduce uncertainties. However, continuous learning and staying updated with technological advancements such as AI and blockchain can mitigate these concerns and enhance adaptability (Ivanov et al., 2019).

For example, a classmate interested in procurement highlighted their negotiation skills, which are critical in that field.
