For instance, effective communication fosters clarity and reduces misunderstandings, which is vital in maintaining a productive work environment (Robinson & Judge, 2019). Fairness and empathy contribute to a trusting relationship with team members, promoting motivation and loyalty (Liden et al., 2006). Decisiveness indicates confidence and capability, which inspire trust among subordinates (Zaccaro et al., 2018), while integrity underpins ethical leadership and long-term positive organizational culture (Brown & Treviño, 2006).

The "Apply It" question prompted me to consider scenarios where these traits are demonstrated or lacking. I reflected on how a boss exhibiting poor communication and unfairness can demotivate employees and lead to high turnover, whereas a boss showing empathy and decisiveness can cultivate a supportive and productive environment.

I selected these characteristics because they align with contemporary leadership theories such as transformational leadership (Bass & Avolio, 1994), which emphasize the importance of interpersonal skills and ethical behavior.
