Create A Website That Showcases The Skills

Create A Website That Showcases The Skills

For this project, you will create a website that showcases the skills you have gained throughout your psychology program. Your website will consist of the following elements: a homepage, a literature review, expert opinions, résumés, a case study, and a list of pertinent websites. Each of these sections will be its own tab on the website. When complete, you may choose to use this website after graduation as a means to showcase your abilities to potential employers and/or graduate schools. To begin, review the elements required for each section of your website below.

Next, visit the Wix.com website to familiarize yourself with this technology. Scroll down on the webpage and click the pink arrow to view a quick tour video of the platform. Use Chrome or Firefox for best viewing. Refer to the Wix.com Quick-Start Guide for step-by-step instructions on setting up your website. If you experience technical difficulties, visit the Wix Support Center. Support through your Student Portal cannot assist with Wix-related issues.

When ready, click the Start Now button to register and begin building your website. If unable to complete the assignment using Wix after reviewing tutorials, the Quick-Start Guide, and support resources, contact your instructor. It is recommended to write your content in a separate document first for easier editing and to prevent data loss. You may develop and revise your content offline before publishing.

The website must be named with the student’s last name followed by “PSY496 Final Project” (e.g., Smith PSY496 Final Project). It should include six tabs with these headings: Home Page, Literature Review, Expert Opinions, Résumés, Case Study, and Websites.

Paper For Above instruction

The final academic paper will comprehensively fulfill each section of the website as described, demonstrating a deep understanding of psychological research, professional development, case analysis, and evaluation of online resources. This paper will serve as an expanded elaboration of your website content, integrating scholarly research, critical analysis, and reflections on professional growth within the field of psychology.

Introduction

This paper begins with an introduction outlining the purpose of creating an online professional portfolio that reflects the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained during the psychology program at Ashford University. Emphasizing the importance of professional presentation in the digital age, the introduction discusses how such a website can serve as a valuable tool for career advancement and graduate school applications.

Homepage Content

The homepage introduces the student professionally, summarizing their academic journey and practical experiences in psychology. It includes personal background, educational accomplishments, significant projects or internships, and future career or educational goals. A professional photograph enhances the page’s personal touch, fostering credibility and connection with viewers.

Literature Review

The literature review presents a balanced and comprehensive analysis of psychological literature related to a specific research topic chosen in Week One. The review begins with an introductory paragraph explaining the relevance of the topic, its importance to current psychological research, and its application in real-world contexts. It examines three to five peer-reviewed articles that directly relate to this topic, providing succinct summaries and critical analyses for each. Each article review discusses methodology, key findings, implications, and limitations, demonstrating a thorough understanding of applied psychological research. At the bottom of this section, references are formatted according to APA style, citing all sources used.

Expert Opinions

This section revisits prior work from Week Three, focusing on different psychological career roles within community settings. Two expert personas are created, representing distinct fields of psychology such as clinical practice, counseling, school psychology, or community mental health. Each persona includes a profile summarizing their professional background, contributions of psychological research to their work, and methodological issues unique to their field. To substantiate claims, the section incorporates at least two recent peer-reviewed articles (published within five years) that relate to these professionals' research areas. The student produces a new audio or video presentation, embedding or linking it on the web page, demonstrating professional communication skills in explaining complex concepts clearly and engagingly.

Résumés

The résumés section begins with the student’s personal professional résumé, crafted using the Ashford University Resume Builder tool. Based on instructor and peer feedback, the résumé is refined to effectively showcase relevant experience without personal contact information. Following this, résumés for the two expert personas previously created are included, demonstrating different professional pathways within psychology. These résumés reflect clear descriptions of responsibilities, skills, and accomplishments in accordance with professional standards.

Case Study

The case study section elaborates on a detailed scenario involving either the student or a fictitious individual who has developed competencies through the Ashford program. It contextualizes a realistic personal or professional challenge related to the research topic, integrating ethical considerations and problem-solving strategies. The narrative describes the scenario, including the individual’s thought process, analysis of options, and decision-making steps. The case concludes with an evaluation of the resolution and lessons learned, illustrating how academic experiences informed practical responses to complex issues.

Websites

The final section provides an annotated list of 10 to 12 reputable websites relevant to psychological research and practice, such as government health agencies, professional organizations, and academic institutions. Each entry includes a critical evaluation (4–5 sentences) of its credibility, relevance, and usefulness, especially in relation to applied psychological research. The annotations analyze how each site interprets research findings and supports professional development. Sources are cited in APA style, and each web page contains a list of references formatted accordingly.

Conclusion

The concluding section synthesizes how the website as a whole reflects the student’s professional growth, research acumen, and readiness to apply psychological knowledge in real-world settings. It emphasizes the value of a well-constructed online portfolio in career development and continuous learning in psychology.
