Barriers that I encountered were trying to get the participants together, due to work schedules for different people or other situations I had to do 3-4 different sessions, in different days and times to accommodate all the participant's needs. The implementation of my capstone project was a complex yet rewarding process that required meticulous planning, flexibility, and adaptability. These conflicting schedules meant that I could not conduct the project in a single session or on a fixed date, compelling me to organize 3 to 4 sessions across different days and times. This approach aimed to accommodate as many participants as possible without compromising the quality or consistency of data collection.

The necessity of multiple sessions introduced additional challenges, including logistical coordination, maintaining participant engagement, and ensuring that sessions were comparable in content and delivery. To address these issues, I developed a detailed schedule, communicated clearly with all participants, and employed flexible methods such as virtual options when appropriate. This not only facilitated broader participation but also mitigated potential dropout rates due to scheduling conflicts. Despite these efforts, some participants still withdrew or failed to attend, highlighting an area for future improvement—namely, more strategic scheduling and targeted recruitment to reach a larger pool of willing participants.

In terms of implementation, I utilized a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods aligned with the project’s objectives. Data collection involved structured surveys, interviews, and observational assessments, conducted consistently across sessions. To ensure reliability and validity, I standardized procedures and trained research assistants to adhere to the protocol. The iterative nature of project implementation revealed the importance of flexibility; during some sessions, modifications were made to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, such as technical issues or participant fatigue.

Reflecting on the barriers encountered, it became evident that early-stage planning could be enhanced through more extensive pre-recruitment efforts and scheduling strategies. For instance, implementing a more aggressive outreach campaign and offering incentives might have boosted participation numbers closer to the initial target. Additionally, utilizing scheduling tools or software could have optimized the alignment of participant availabilities, streamlining session organization.

Furthermore, a key lesson was the importance of adaptability and contingency planning. The need to conduct multiple sessions underscored the importance of flexibility in protocol implementation and the value of virtual sessions in expanding reach. For future projects, integrating technology more effectively, such as online participation options or asynchronous data collection methods, could significantly improve efficiency and inclusivity.

In conclusion, despite facing notable barriers related to scheduling and participant recruitment, my project was successfully implemented through strategic planning, flexible execution, and ongoing adjustments. The experience underscored the importance of thorough preparation, effective communication, and technological adaptation.
