As i have used GCU library on all of my other classes, I find it easy to navigate the site and get factual information based on evidence-based research. This way, I know that the data presented to me are factual and are supported by the university. I also enjoy reading journal articles by researchers and see how their studies resulted. This helps me think critically about other ways to improve the study, thus base my EBP concept on other's research.
This does not mean that I am copying another's work. Reading published journals make it possible for others like me to coneptualize and better the research study and propose new hypothesis and gather more data on the subject. When it comes to published books and reading, I seldom see them but they are very much available. Research published in books are often lengthy but are truly helpful especially when proposing an EBP. Having facts is essential in formulating a plan and implementing it.
I think that having the GCU library is very important and I truly wish I can have access for my lifetime. The best thing about it is its easy to navigate, its free for students like us, and there are millions of information available for review. Reference: Grand Canyon University. (n.d.). I believe that is what makes its online programs so successful. Since nursing is a profession that heavily relies on EBP and clinical research, this will be very important to our capstone projects. After looking at the Research and and Resources home page, I feel the journal articles and the Nursing & Health Sciences Resources will be the two best resources for the topic of my EBP proposal topic. Both areas will take me to specific nursing research articles, databases and EBP information. This will allow me to find a direct range of references to discuss my specific proposal topic.
When its comes to Google Scholar, there is just too much information, even slightly related to the topic searched. Then it becomes time consuming to sort through it all and deciding what is pertinent and what isn't; but more importantly what is fact-based, rather than assumption based. I searched my topic and already came back with a large of amount of information. This makes me excited about my subject and has me thinking ahead on how I want to present this topic.
