Regarding Ro, as depicted in Chapter 19, he is a young man who intentionally engages with different cultural forces while demonstrating resilience and humility in his responses. Ro encounters various opposing cultural ideas, including Western individualism and traditional Confucian values, which challenge his perceptions of duty and community. Instead of rejecting these forces outright, Ro seeks to understand and negotiate these influences, practicing respect and humility while staying true to his core values (Peng, 2020).
