The Role and Responsibilities of HIM Professionals
HIM professionals serve a crucial function in the healthcare delivery system by managing patient information and ensuring its quality, accessibility, and security. Their responsibilities often include coding diagnoses and procedures, managing electronic health records (EHRs), ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and engaging in data analytics to improve patient care (AHIMA, 2018).
