Discuss The Fol 623348
Discuss The Fol
After studying Module 1: Lecture Materials & Resources , discuss the following: 1. Review Table 2.2. Create 4 Research questions related to your nursing clinical practice area and/or role. One of each type: correlational, comparative, experimental, and phenomenology. 2. Review Table 2.3. Choose one of your research questions and map out the Independent, dependent variable, population, and testability. Discussion Tip: This should be in paragraph format. You create four research questions. One research question will require you to expand on the components and related criteria. Read Chapter 2 for more information. Discussion Submission Instructions: The assignment must be fully completed for grading. You must have your original post and two responses to your peers. Discussions not including your original post and two responses will NOT be graded. Your initial post must be at least 500 words, formatted, and cited in the current APA style with support from at least two academic sources. Your initial post is worth 8 points. You must respond to at least two of your peers by extending, refuting/correcting, or adding additional nuance to their posts and supporting your opinion with a reference. Response posts must be at least 150 words. Quotes “…” cannot be used at a higher learning level for your assignments, so sentences need to be paraphrased and referenced. Acceptable references include scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions), journal articles, and books published in the last five years—no websites or videos are to be referenced without prior approval. Discussions using websites as references will receive an automatic 0. All submitted work must be the student's original work which has never been submitted before for grading in another class. Faculty can access tools that detect work generated using artificial intelligence (AI). Submitting AI-generated work and not crediting the source for any assignment is considered academic dishonesty and will be subject to penalty. Discussions must be posted in CANVAS to be graded. Uploaded documents will not be accepted. Discussion and responses must be posted in APA format.
Paper For Above instruction
The purpose of this discussion is to explore the foundational elements of research design within the context of nursing practice, emphasizing the formulation of research questions and the identification of variables. As a nursing professional, developing critical skills in crafting valid research questions is essential for advancing evidence-based practice, improving patient outcomes, and contributing to scholarly knowledge.
To begin, I reviewed Table 2.2, which outlines various types of research questions including correlational, comparative, experimental, and phenomenological inquiries. Based on my clinical practice in pediatric nursing, I formulated four research questions aligning with each type. For the correlational question, I asked: “Is there a relationship between parental involvement and sleep quality in hospitalized children?” This question aims to determine whether increased parental engagement correlates with improved sleep, an essential factor in healing and health in pediatric patients. For the comparative question, I questioned: “How do pain management outcomes differ between children receiving pharmacologic versus non-pharmacologic interventions?” This comparison seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of different treatment modalities. The experimental question I developed is: “Does implementing a structured play therapy program reduce anxiety levels in preschool-aged children undergoing invasive procedures?” This question involves testing the effect of an intervention on a specific outcome. Lastly, the phenomenological question I posed is: “What are parents’ experiences of caring for children with chronic illness in the hospital setting?” This inquiry explores subjective experiences and perceptions, providing depth to understanding family-centered care.
Next, referring to Table 2.3, I selected the phenomenological research question regarding parental experiences. To map out the variables, I identified “parents’ experiences caring for children with chronic illness in the hospital” as the phenomenon, which is subjective and rich in qualitative data. The population consisted of parents of children diagnosed with chronic illnesses admitted to a pediatric hospital. The independent variable in phenomenological studies is often implicit, but here, it could be considered the caregiving environment or hospital policies. The dependent variable is the parents’ perceptions and emotional responses, which are observed through qualitative data rather than numerical measurement. Testability in qualitative research is more flexible; it emphasizes capturing themes and patterns rather than statistical testing. However, in this context, ensuring the study’s clarity, depth of interviews, and thematic analysis promotes its testability. The focus lies in understanding deeply rooted subjective experiences, which can inform strategies to improve family-centered care practices.
In conclusion, developing diverse research questions aligned with different study types enhances a nurse’s ability to contribute to evidence-based practice. Carefully considering variables and their relationships allows for more precise study design, whether quantitative or qualitative. These skills are crucial as they support the advancement of nursing science and improve patient-centered care by integrating research findings into clinical practice effectively.
