I appreciated how the chapter detailed the symptoms, diagnostic criteria, and potential causes of these disorders, which deepened my appreciation for the nuances involved in mental health diagnosis and treatment. According to King (2019), understanding these disorders is essential to reduce stigma and promote empathy towards individuals experiencing mental health issues.
I liked this chapter because it challenged some of my previous misconceptions about mental illnesses. Before taking this course, I perceived psychological disorders mainly as severe mental illnesses that are difficult to manage.
