Discussion Board #1 Lianet Acosta Florida National University Prof. Leonor Perez Aquino Advance Primary Care of Family Practicum I May 4, 2021 As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), I have the vision to play a critical role in the future of healthcare medicine. One of the key roles that I have the vision to play is in the provision of primary care especially on the front of preventive care (Nursing World, 2020). To be able to achieve this vision, there is a need to have the necessary qualifications by focusing on the successful completion of a Master's program in addition to the licensing requirements. To deal with preventive medicine, there are some key components that I have particular attention to (American Nurses Association, 2018).

There is a core focus on the ability to perform some key functions. I have the vision to be able to treat various illnesses that affect the public health sector in my country. To the same end, I have the vision to have the adequate knowledge and expertise to offer advice on policy issues and other health matters that arise in the sector and the workplace towards a successful and healthy nation. (American Nurses Association, 2018). To remain relevant in this vision, there is a need to have the continuity of understanding the issues arising in the health sector. As such, there is a key focus being competitive by knowing the cutting edge technology and medication breakthroughs as well as methodological and other developments in the medical field through continuity in education.

To this end, I have a vision of being in close relations with researchers and research institutions as well as being engaged actively in field research as a key way by which there can be better tidings in finding better ways to deal with arising issues in healthcare. Licensing requirements further ensure that APRNs meet the standards necessary to deliver safe and effective care. The emphasis on continued education aligns with recommendations from the American Nurses Association (ANA, 2018), which underscores the importance of maintaining competence through lifelong learning in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

Core functions of an APRN in this context include diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, and implementing preventative strategies to mitigate illness development. The ability to treat a wide range of health conditions not only impacts individual patients but also influences public health initiatives aimed at disease prevention and health promotion. Furthermore, I aspire to contribute actively to health policy discussions, advising on issues that influence healthcare quality, access, and effectiveness. This role extends beyond individual patient care to broader system-level improvements, impacting overall community health outcomes.

Remaining relevant in this field involves continuous education and staying abreast of technological innovations and medical breakthroughs. Advances in telehealth, electronic health records, and diagnostic tools have revolutionized care delivery, and an APRN must remain proficient in these areas. Regular participation in workshops, seminars, and research activities ensures that practitioners remain competent and innovative.

Engagement with research institutions and active participation in field research are vital to developing and implementing best practices. By collaborating with researchers, APRNs can contribute to evidence-based practice, ensuring that clinical interventions are grounded in the latest scientific findings. Field research also offers insights into population-specific health challenges, enabling tailored and effective health strategies.

In conclusion, the future of healthcare demands APRNs to be well-educated, research-oriented, and technologically adept. By pursuing advanced education, engaging with research communities, and continuously honing skills, I aim to contribute meaningfully to primary and preventive care initiatives.
