This paper discusses three types of team conflict, illustrates a personal conflict example using the managerial grid, explores three creativity measurements, and reflects on personal assessments.
Types of Team Conflict
The three primary types of team conflict discussed in the literature are task conflict, relationship conflict, and process conflict. Task conflict pertains to disagreements about the work itself, including differences in ideas or opinions about how to complete tasks. Relationship conflict involves personal or interpersonal issues, often stemming from personality clashes or emotional tensions. Process conflict concerns disagreements over procedures or methods of work. These conflicts can coexist or occur separately within teams, influencing team dynamics differentially.
Personal Conflict Experience
In my previous team, a task conflict emerged regarding the allocation of responsibilities for a project. Two team members, Sarah and John, disagreed on who should lead certain aspects of the project.
