Dropbox Assignment 4: Using Microsoft Word to Edit a Paper

The Hopes, Dreams, and Fears Paper you wrote last week served two purposes: 1) to encourage you to think about what you want from your college experience, as well as consider your concerns; and 2) to showcase your understanding of how to write a paper using MS Word. For this assignment you will revisit that paper and showcase your understanding of how to edit a paper using MS Word. Specifically, you must do each of the below. If it helps, you can download this document and click each checkbox as you complete the listed task.

  1. On the Home tab (2pts each):

    • Change your entire paper’s font to Palatino Linotype, 11 pt.
    • Highlight one sentence of your paper in yellow.
    • Set your line spacing to 1.5, and to space “After” at 12 pt.
    • Change one of your paragraphs so that each sentence appears in a bulleted list instead of in paragraph format.
  2. On the Insert tab (3pts):

    • Add a Header (or edit the one you already have) to show the page number in the right corner and a running head that says “COLL 133 Foundations Seminar” in the left corner.
  3. On the Layout tab (3pts):

    • Change your paper’s margins to 1” on the top and bottom and .75” on the left and right.
  4. On the Review tab (3pts each):

    • Choose Track Changes and either add a sentence to your paper or edit an existing sentence.
    • Add a Comment somewhere in your paper.

Note that these changes do not represent appropriate guidelines for formatting using APA, MLA, or any other style! They are meant only to show you understand how to do each task. When you have completed each of these tasks, submit your revised Hopes, Dreams, and Fears Paper to Dropbox 4 by 11:59 pm CT on Sunday of Week 3.

Sample Paper For Above instruction

Introduction

When reflecting on my college journey, I have many hopes and dreams about what I want to achieve along the way. My main aspiration is to gain a comprehensive understanding of my chosen field, which in my case is psychology. Additionally, I harbor fears about balancing coursework with personal life and maintaining mental health. This paper explores these hopes, dreams, and fears in detail.

My Hopes and Dreams

  • To develop strong relationships with professors and peers that foster a supportive learning environment.
  • To participate in internships and research opportunities that provide practical experience.
  • To graduate with honors and secure a fulfilling career in psychology.

One sentence of my paper is highlighted in yellow for demonstration purposes.

This paragraph contains multiple sentences. I aim to set the line spacing to 1.5 and the spacing after to 12 pt, as instructed.

Here is an example of a paragraph changed into a bulleted list:

  • Attending conferences to stay updated on industry trends.
  • Building a portfolio of research projects.
  • Networking with professionals in the field.

My Fears

I am concerned about my ability to manage time effectively, especially when juggling studies, part-time work, and personal commitments. Additionally, I worry about burnout and the stress associated with high academic expectations.

The header of my paper has been added with the page number to the right and a running head on the left: “COLL 133 Foundations Seminar”.

Marginal adjustments have been made to set 1-inch margins on the top and bottom, and 0.75-inch on the sides, to meet formatting specifications.

Using track changes, I have added a sentence to clarify my goals in the final paragraph, and I have inserted a comment where I reflect on the importance of mental health during my college years.
