Due Tomorrow: Must Be Done Or Glance Through
Due Tomorrow Must Have Done By Tomorrowread Or Glance Through Ch
Due tomorrow, read or glance through chapter 16 in the attached book. Each weekly journal will be 1-2 pages and will include 2 sources in the media that relate to the reading that week. The purpose of this assignment, which will continue throughout the semester, is to encourage you to think in a sociological manner and learn to apply sociology and social problems theory to events in everyday life. You should learn to integrate the ideas discussed in class and start to regard aspects of society critically. Each journal entry should be dated, typed, single-spaced, and include citations.
For each journal entry, you should include the following: choose one or more concepts or themes from the chapters, define the concept or theme in your own words, locate two media items (e.g., news articles, videos, TV shows, blogs) that relate to the concept/theme, and summarize the connection or significance of each source to the concept/theme from the textbook. Provide critical analysis considering how the social problem is framed (person vs. structure blame), solutions proposed and by whom, anything missing in the source that should be considered, or any contradictions with the textbook. Include bibliographic information about each source.
Your entries should be critical and academically insightful, reflecting a sociological perspective. Support your ideas with evidence from the material analyzed and establish connections to the textbook. The journal should have an organizational structure: an introductory paragraph, two to three body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. Use APA formatting for citations. Choose and thoroughly analyze one or more concepts from chapter 16, incorporate two relevant media sources, and meet all the above requirements.
