Leadership in different contexts such as scouting, band directing, or coaching involves various behaviors aimed at motivating and supporting team members. One exemplary instance of high consideration behavior occurred during my tenure as a band member when our band director took personalized interest in addressing individual concerns during a stressful rehearsal period. Recognizing the individual challenges faced by students, the director frequently checked in personally, offered encouragement, and adapted rehearsal plans to accommodate specific needs, which significantly boosted morale and motivation. This behavior reflects high consideration, characterized by respect, trust, and genuine concern for team members' well-being. Such actions foster a supportive environment where team members feel valued and understood, thereby enhancing overall performance and cohesion.
Effective leaders can further support their team members emotionally through specific actions. First, active listening is essential; a leader should create a safe space where team members feel heard without judgment. Regarding my leadership style, I identify more with transformational leadership. I believe that transformational leadership encourages sustainable development and empowers team members to realize their full potential.
