Aristotle was a towering figure in ancient Greek philosophy, living from 384 BCE to 322 BCE. He was born in Stagira, a city in northern Greece, and spent much of his life engaged in philosophical inquiry, scientific investigations, and teaching. His influence on intellectual traditions spans a wide array of fields including philosophy, science, ethics, politics, and metaphysics. Aristotle's method of systematic observation and categorization laid foundational principles for Western scientific inquiry. His works profoundly shaped medieval Christian philosophy and Islamic scholarship, and continue to influence contemporary thought.
