Problem statement The major issue within the organization currently is lack of an efficient technological solution that would enhance the organizational operations such as management of the inventory, online shipments, processing of payments, online shopping integration, management of client contacts as well as providing reports among others. The company's location is also a challenge especially when it comes to the management of client data. This is because they tend to provide a platform where the company can scrutinize the dates and also communicate with different systems. It will also be important in tracking the client orders, processing payments made through cards, managing organizational inventory as well as communicating with other structures within the network. The second technology type that would be important in solving the organizational technological issue is cloud computing. This kind of technology entirely relies on allocation of capitals to help the organization to accomplish constancy as well as an economic scale. It is also important in creating a strong relationship between the clients and the organization if used efficiently (Hansen, 2017). Business requirements Objectives The main aim of the project is to develop the idea of e-commerce that increases the organizational online presence as well as a wider client base to enhance organizational growth. Execution of the project will be important in ensuring efficient and effective communication between Nordstrom Rack and its clients. Another aim of the project to enable the company to communicate reports to the leaders about key decisions within the organization. Such information is crucial to the organization especially because it helps it to forecast different occurrences in the future. Project description Before executing the proposed e-commerce system, the organization needs to develop a comprehensive website and e-commerce design. Having this into account, the organizational management will need to establish the best strategies for monitoring internet traffic and also data safety. The next step would be to establish a timeline under which different activities need to be accomplished. Among the elements that the website ought to have before being released to the customers include integration with online shopping, freight and record management, processing orders and payment status. It should also facilitate and collaborate with the internal and external aspects of the establishment, be able to achieve the client contacts and also know how to implement the new technology to control the business environment. Technological requirements One of the requirements would be moving to a web server or keeping the website service. The web server would make it easier for the company to have an e-commerce website. Since the organization lacks skilled technological experts, it would be a great idea to implement an accommodating firm to develop a space on a safe web server. Through outsourcing the web server, the organization also benefits because it saves money in the future. This is because it does not have to employ full-time technological experts to continue managing and updating the website. Competitors and Technology The two contending establishments that run in the same sector as Nordstrom Rack include Kohls and Zappos. Kohl is a company based in Milwaukee suburbs in Manonvonce Falls. It has more than 1158 stores in about 49 states (Pages, 2019). Zappos, on the other hand, is a retail shop from Nevada. Technology one This is an intelligent system. The technology aims at learning ideas from the competitor companies. Kohl's organization has partnered with Amazon whereby it enhances its operations through accepting returns from Amazon. It has a simple website that makes it easy for clients to navigate at ease and shop the items they wish to purchase (O’Brian, 2017). It also values the client's opinion regarding its physical stores and hence strives to ensure a balance between the online services and the physical stores. Technology two This is cloud computing. Zappos company has also partnered with Amazon whereby it aims at obtaining an all-stock deal in less than $1.2 Billion (Pages, 2019). The company has also found a base in the Shoe site domain. It has also had a diverse inventory as it included other products such as shoes, handbags, clothing as well as other accessories. As far as cloud computing is concerned, the company has all its servers hosted by the Amazon web servers (Ratveri, 2019). The idea of cloud computing has enabled the company to continually maintain its cultures.
