This article examines the unique nutritional challenges faced by older adults, emphasizing hydration management and strategies to prevent malnutrition, which are vital for maintaining quality of life and preventing age-related health complications.
The article begins by highlighting the rising prevalence of dehydration among the elderly, due to factors such as diminished thirst sensation, medication side effects, and physical limitations that hinder access to fluids. It underscores that dehydration can lead to serious health issues like urinary tract infections, falls, and cognitive decline.
