Favorable viewpoints emphasize blockchain's decentralized nature, which can eliminate intermediaries and foster trust in financial transactions (Nakamoto, 2008; Crosby et al., 2016). Conversely, unfavorable articles cite incidents of hacking, theft, and use for illicit purposes, questioning the security and ethical implications of these technologies (Moore & Gupta, 2016). My opinion aligns with cautious optimism; while blockchain offers transformative possibilities, addressing security flaws and regulatory issues is critical for its sustainable adoption. Regarding information security policies at my institution, I find it to be comprehensive, including password protection, access controls, and data encryption, aligning well with standards outlined in cybersecurity literature (Whitman & Mattord, 2019). Personally, I am diligent about securing my information, regularly updating passwords, avoiding suspicious links, and safeguarding sensitive data, which are essential steps to maintain personal cybersecurity (Anderson, 2020). Continuous awareness and adherence to best practices are necessary for protecting individual and organizational information (Mitnick & Simon, 2021). Overall, understanding both the benefits and risks associated with blockchain and maintaining robust security practices are essential in today’s digital landscape.
