Reflecting on my journey through this course on writing and composition, I find myself gaining valuable insights into my own writing process and how I can continue to improve. When I initially enrolled in this course, I expected to enhance my writing skills, but I was also unsure of how much progress I would make or what specific areas I needed to focus on. Overall, I can confidently say that this course exceeded my expectations by providing a comprehensive framework for understanding and developing my writing abilities, supported by exercises, assignments, and the use of Intellipath, which tailored the learning experience to my needs.
The course introduced me to various aspects of effective writing, from crafting clear thesis statements to organizing ideas logically. One of the unexpected outcomes was my increased confidence in expressing my ideas through structured paragraphs. For example, the assignments that required writing narrative essays helped me see the importance of chronological support to maintain coherence and engage the reader. I learned to develop a story with a beginning, middle, and end, which gave my writing a more compelling and organized flow. These assignments served as concrete examples of how to support my thesis statement with detailed, supporting points.
Throughout the course, I identified both strengths and weaknesses within my writing skills. An area of strength is my ability to tell a story and engage readers with relatable experiences.
