Choosing an effective and relevant public policy for research is a critical step towards understanding how governmental decisions impact society and individual lives. For this assignment, I selected the policy on renewable energy subsidies, particularly focusing on incentives provided to solar energy providers. The decision was motivated by my strong interest in sustainable development and the transition to clean energy sources which are pivotal in fighting climate change.
The renewable energy subsidy policy aims to encourage the adoption of renewable energy sources by providing financial incentives to solar panel manufacturers, installers, and consumers. I chose this policy because of its significant relevance to current environmental challenges and its potential for reform to increase efficacy. My research revealed that while the policy has contributed to increased solar adoption, it faces issues such as inconsistent funding, bureaucratic hurdles, and limited scope that hampers its long-term effectiveness.
