Fundamentals Course Project Winter 2022 Groupcourse Project Instruct

On week 2 or 3, you will be assigned a group and a case study. You will submit one paper as a group. Make sure all names are included on the paper. Your project will be submitted as a formal (APA) paper. You will submit this paper in three parts. Submit the whole paper (what is due) on the due dates. For example: on week 5, submit what is required (part 1); on week 7, submit what you already submitted on week 5 plus the completed sections that you added to the paper (part 1 and 2); and on week 10, you will submit the complete paper (parts 1, 2, and 3). If you do not submit the project as a paper, you will be penalized 50% for each part. Use the medication template and the nursing care plan templates provided. Note, I only grade what is due each week; I will not recheck an earlier submitted section for more points.

I will attach the rubric and the project template for you to use. Make sure you follow APA in your paper. ALL APA papers must include an introduction and a conclusion. You must use headings per APA. Cite ALL your sources. Start the reference page, adding to it for each successive part. Make sure it is alphabetized. Put the reference page at the end. Follow the grading rubric for more details. If your paper is not in correct APA format you will lose points.

Part 1 (Due Week 5):

Medication Summary

Choose 5 primary medications that your patient is taking and complete the following information. Upload this table directly into your paper. The information should relate to your assigned case study client:

  • Drug Name: Trade & generic name, dose, route & frequency
  • Pharmacological & therapeutic drug class & Expected action in the body
  • Medical diagnosis: What diagnosis is the patient taking this drug for? How will it help them?
  • Side effects & adverse reactions/complications/top drug interactions
  • Nursing administration & special instructions & assessments
  • Client education
  • Evaluation of medication effectiveness: e.g., pain scale

Labs and Diagnostic Tests

Choose 5 labs or diagnostic tests relevant to your case study client. Note normal results, expected abnormal values, and what these signify for your client.

Note: Missing or incomplete summaries will result in point deductions. Ensure all information is detailed and directly applicable.

Part 2 (Due Week 7):

Health Assessment, Health History, and Nursing Diagnoses

  1. Describe the medical diagnoses of your client—including the admitting diagnosis and four secondary diagnoses—with at least a 5-sentence explanation of each diagnosis’s pathophysiology. Cite sources.
  2. Write a detailed physical assessment and client interview based on information from #1 and your case study. Be creative in your approach.
  3. Identify 5 priority NANDA nursing diagnoses in correct format. Only providing labels will not suffice; proper nursing diagnosis statements are required.

Part 3 (Due Week 10):

Plan of Care

Complete a comprehensive care plan that includes:

  • Your nursing diagnoses from Part 2
  • One short-term and one long-term goal per diagnosis
  • Four nursing interventions per diagnosis, with prioritization based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and an explanation
  • An evaluation plan to assess if goals are met, including expected outcomes
  • A teaching plan addressing patient education tailored to the diagnoses and interventions

Reflect on the following in your paper: Which diagnoses are prioritized, whether outcomes are expected during your shift, and potential revisions for future care planning.

Additional Instructions

  • Use the provided table template for creating the care plan.
  • Ensure proper APA formatting throughout, including in-text citations and references.
  • Include a critical reflection on the care plan’s implementation effectiveness and possible adjustments.

Clinical Presentation (Last day of clinical, online):

Choose a topic (approved by instructor), prepare a 10-15 minute presentation, include 3 learning objectives, and utilize visuals like PPT, Kahoot, or handouts. Be well-prepared for questions, organize content effectively, and adhere to grading criteria.

Virtualization Assignment

Explore the concept of virtualization, define it, justify its organizational need, evaluate two virtual technologies/solutions, discuss alternatives, and analyze security risks with countermeasures. Incorporate at least three peer-reviewed sources (including your textbook). Format as a 2-3 page paper, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12, APA style, with a cover page and references.
