Get started today. For purposes of your attendance, please post your response to this discussion by Friday. In this course, you will learn the writing process by working on an argumentative essay using one of the topic choices listed below. The essay you will write for this course will not use outside research and will instead be entirely comprised of your own original ideas. Prior to posting to the Discussion Board, you will select your essay topic from the list below, keeping in mind that you want to choose a topic that you can write about without having to conduct outside research.

Topic Choices

  • Characteristics of a good parent, effective leader, or successful public servant: For your essay, you will select a good parent, effective leader, or successful public servant and define his or her values, qualities, and behaviors in your own words. After defining, you will then argue which 3 characteristics are the most necessary to be a good parent, effective leader, or successful public servant.
  • Characteristics of a successful student in an online classroom: For your essay, you will explain what values, habits, and characteristics contribute to a student’s successful experience in an online class, and then you will argue which 3 characteristics or habits are the most essential for students to achieve success in an online classroom.
  • Select your own topic: For your essay, you may choose a topic of interest to you that is not listed above, but your topic must be approved by your instructor. Keep in mind that your essay must make an argument, and it must come from your own original ideas, so avoid a topic that requires research. The topic cannot be too broad, and it must be arguable.

Paper For Above instruction

Hello everyone, my name is Alex Johnson, and I am excited to participate in this course. I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration and have a keen interest in leadership and organizational success. My goal in this course is to improve my writing skills, particularly in constructing clear and compelling argumentative essays. I look forward to engaging with all of you and learning more about the writing process.

After reviewing the available topics, I have chosen to focus on “Characteristics of a good parent, effective leader, or successful public servant.” I believe that leadership, especially in public service, requires a combination of specific values and traits that guide behavior and decision-making. I am particularly interested in analyzing the qualities that contribute most significantly to effective leadership in the public sector. My chosen topic will be: “The qualities that define an effective leader in public service, with a focus on integrity, empathy, and vision.”

In my essay, I plan to first define what makes a good parent, effective leader, or successful public servant, emphasizing core values such as responsibility, patience, and honesty. I will then argue that among these qualities, integrity, empathy, and vision are the three most critical characteristics for a successful public servant. To support my argument, I will discuss how integrity ensures trustworthiness and ethical conduct, how empathy fosters better relationships with constituents, and how vision drives strategic long-term planning for community improvement. I believe that these traits are essential because they help public servants navigate complex social issues, maintain public trust, and inspire positive change.

Overall, I am eager to explore how personal and professional values shape effective leadership, and I look forward to developing my ideas further through this assignment and engaging with my classmates’ perspectives.
