In this project, you will create a form in Design view, add fields to a tab control and place them as required, and then resize them. You will then create a report using the Report Wizard and modify its design.
Paper For Above instruction
The project outlined involves creating an efficient and user-friendly data entry form complemented by a detailed report for a course management database. The goal is to develop a form that consolidates course information into organized tabs, facilitating ease of access and editing. Additionally, generating a well-formatted report allows for an effective presentation of instructor teaching loads, making use of the Report Wizard for streamlined design and subsequent modification for clarity and aesthetic appeal.
To begin, the process involves opening an existing Access database, specifically "Student_Access_7G_Course_Management.accdb," and activating content if necessary. The first step is to locate the "Course Listings" form in Design view. Within this form, the height of the Detail section must be adjusted to 3 inches, creating sufficient space for the embedded controls.
The core feature of the form customization is the addition of a tab control within the Detail section. This tab control should be positioned at 0.25 inches from the top and left margins, based on the vertical and horizontal rulers, to ensure consistent placement. The right edge of the tab control should extend to 6 inches horizontally, accommodating multiple tabs without clutter.
The tab control will contain two pages: "Course Information" and "Course Description." On the first page, label it with the caption "Course Information." This page will include fields for Course ID, Course Name, Format, Credit Hours, and Instructor. These fields should be placed at 1.5 inches from the left on the horizontal ruler and 0.75 inches from the top on the vertical ruler. The text boxes for these fields need to be extended to a width of 4.5 inches to provide ample space for data entry.
The second tab page, labeled with the caption "Course Description," will include the Description field. This field’s text box should be placed similarly at 1.5 inches from the left and 0.75 inches from the top, but its width should be extended to 5 inches, and the control should stretch down to the bottom of the tab control for comprehensive description entry.
The form should then be viewed in Form view to verify layout and functioning. After this, the form should be saved and closed to preserve changes.
The next task involves creating a report via the Report Wizard based on a parameter query named "Instructor Parameter Query." All relevant fields should be added in order, and no grouping should be applied. The report must be sorted by Course ID in ascending order and formatted using the Tabular layout in portrait orientation for readability and professional appearance. The report should be saved as "Instructor Teaching Load."
Further modifications are required to enhance visual appeal and clarity. The report’s title font color should be changed to Purple, Accent 4, Darker 50%, with a font size increased to 24 points and the width set to 4 inches, ensuring prominence. All controls should be resized as necessary to make all data visible without overlap.
The report’s overall width should be adjusted to 7 inches for better fit within standard paper sizes. The report should then be switched to Layout view for further fine-tuning. During viewing, when prompted for a parameter value, the user should enter “2” to filter the data accordingly. The report is then closed.
Finally, the database’s Navigation Pane should be visible, and the entire database should be closed after all modifications. The completed project is intended for grading, demonstrating proficiency in form and report design within Microsoft Access.
