During my pediatrics rotation focusing on advanced practice in primary care, my knowledge was notably challenged in several aspects, particularly in understanding the complexities and nuances of pediatric patient management. Prior to this course, my understanding of pediatric care was primarily from theoretical knowledge and limited clinical exposure. However, engaging directly with pediatric patients, their families, and comprehensive case studies expanded my perspective on the importance of tailored communication, child development considerations, and family-centered care approaches. I realized that managing pediatric patients necessitates flexibility, patience, and an emphasis on educating caregivers, which challenged my previous assumptions about straightforward clinical protocols.

Two of the most interesting things I learned during this rotation were the importance of holistic assessment and the evolving role of advanced practice providers in pediatric primary care.
