Collaboration is a critical part of business today. For this exercise, you will need to work with a friend, co-worker, or another student, preferably someone from an organization you’re involved with.
Complete the provided tests and reflect on what your scores have shown you. Consider how collaborative of an individual you are, where you might improve, and what you have learned from this exercise. Attach the four worksheets to your assignment and write a paper of no less than 400 words.
The first assessment, The Personal Assessment, is for self-evaluation, highlighting strengths and weaknesses. Score yourself using a scale from 1 to 3, where 1 means "I have trouble with this," 2 means "I do this reasonably well," and 3 indicates "I see this as a strength of mine."
The second test, The Joint Assessment, consists of four parts that involve scoring both yourself and your collaborator on aspects such as Trust Building, Organizing and Operational Skills, Decision-making and Creative-Planning Skills, and Conflict Management.

Personal reflection on one's collaborative abilities can provide insights for improvement and skill development. This paper assesses my effectiveness as a collaborator through various structured assessments and explores the potential for enhancement in my collaborative practices.
The first step in understanding my collaboration skills is to complete The Personal Assessment. This assessment highlights my self-perceived strengths and weaknesses regarding collaboration. Scoring myself, I rated various collaboration skills. For instance, I rated my communication skills as a 2 (I do this reasonably well). Although I can articulate ideas clearly, I sometimes struggle to ensure that my message is fully understood by others. This suggests that enhancing my listening and feedback skills could be beneficial for more effective communication.
Another aspect I evaluated was my ability to trust others, which I scored as a 3, indicating a strong belief in establishing reliable relationships. Trust is fundamental in collaboration, as it allows for open dialogue and risk-taking essential for innovative ideas. I find that my openness in sharing and discussing ideas fosters a trustful environment where collaboration can thrive.
Following my self-evaluation, I engaged in The Joint Assessment with a colleague from my organization. This exercise involved evaluating both my collaboration skills and those of my partner.
