The development of a personal nursing philosophy is a vital process that encapsulates an individual nurse’s core values, beliefs, and assumptions about the profession. Throughout the coursework at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), I have been able to refine and develop my personal philosophy, which now profoundly influences my approach to nursing practice and my future aspirations. This reflective process has enabled me to understand the significance of nursing not only as a profession but as a moral and ethical commitment to care, compassion, and continuous personal growth.

In Sections I–IV of my nursing philosophy, I articulated my core assumptions about nursing, its purpose, and foundational theories that underpin my practice. I initially believed that nursing was primarily a technical discipline focused on physical health.
