The process of conducting a career assessment necessitates rigorous adherence to ethical standards to protect the integrity of the counseling process and ensure the well-being of clients. Reflecting on my recent career assessment report, several key ethical considerations emerged prominently, aligning with the guidelines set out by the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics (2014) and the National Career Development Association (NCDA) Code of Ethics (2015). These considerations not only guided my actions during the assessment but also shape my ongoing commitment to ethical practice as a professional counselor.
One of the primary ethical considerations that stood out during the completion of the report was maintaining confidentiality and informed consent. The ACA emphasizes that counselors must respect clients' privacy and obtain appropriate consent before collecting or sharing any personal information (ACA, 2014).
