In This Project You Will Create A One Page Poster From Scratch That A

In this project, you will create a one-page poster from scratch that advertises a fictional community event—such as a festival, concert, art walk, dance party, march for a cause, or volunteer event. Choose the type of event and include all necessary titles and information for the poster. Research similar event posters online to gather ideas for content and layout, which is recommended as part of your design process.

Ensure all content is kept clean, non-offensive, and inclusive to create a welcoming environment. All layout design, including creation of text elements, must be done in Adobe InDesign; do not use Photoshop or other programs to create the entire poster and import it into InDesign.

Your final poster should meet these requirements:

- 8.5 x 11 inch document, in portrait or landscape orientation.

- Save the poster in its own Project 2 folder.

- Include the following required text: event title, location, date and time, contact info (website, email, or phone number). Optionally, add ticket prices/registration info, schedule, or key features.

- Use at least two text frames.

- Choose only 2-3 contrasting fonts that work well together.

- Incorporate at least two royalty-free pixel-based images (photographs) processed to 300 ppi in Photoshop (via Image>Image Size with resample unchecked).

- Place images into InDesign as links (not embedded); scale and position them proportionally, verifying PPI values in the Links panel.

- Proofread for typos, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar errors.

- Save the native InDesign (.indd) file and keep it together with linked images in your project folder.

- Early/draft submission requires at least two styled text elements and two positioned photographic images, with experimentation allowed.

For early drafts:

- Export a PDF (using High Quality preset) and submit via the designated start assignment button.

- Export a JPG or PNG of your design, embed it in the critique discussion, and provide feedback to two peers.

- Review the rubric before submitting.

Follow these guidelines diligently to ensure your poster is professional, clear, and effective.
