What type of person becomes this type of risk taker? The kind of person who takes the risks involved in starting a small business are those who see things in an optimistic light. They see opportunity first then they weigh the risk. These people are very calculated and analytical.

What challenges did he or she face and overcome? Building a customer base was the biggest challenge; she began her business while staying at home with her newborn baby and had a hard time getting out to promote herself. What failures did this person have? There were no failures; the only thing she mentioned that was experimental was some partnerships with people doing similar things, and they were not profitable but they were also not a loss because there was no money invested on her part. How many companies has he or she started? This was her first; she had dreams of starting a coffee shop and developing a non-profit but neither came to fruition.

How successful is he or she? She has been successful over the three years in which she has started the business. She has profited overall but has not made a significant effort to grow the business—it has been maintained over the last few months, with plans to sell it to someone willing to grow it further. Why is this person successful? She has made a profit and, if she wanted, she could continue growing by advertising. Why did he or she become an entrepreneur? She had always wanted to have her own business, but it wasn't until her daughter was born and she quit her job that she had the time. What is this person's measure of success? Profit and Loss.

What did you learn about entrepreneurship from this interview? I learned that even with passion for something, one can reach a point of wanting to move on. She just got to the point where she did not want to put in the effort anymore, which suggests she may not be a "true" entrepreneur. If you sell your business, will you start another one? Maybe, if I did, I would want something big enough to manage rather than doing the majority of the work myself. Would you recommend starting a business to a friend? It depends on the friend; it's not for everyone. I think it's only suitable for about 10% of people—hardworking individuals.
