Investment Selection: Imagine That You Are A Potential Inves

Investment SelectionImagine That You Are A Potential Inve

Imagine that you are a potential investor researching a U.S. investment of your choice. Your choice can be any investment that is highly marketable, which means that you must be able to sell it at a market price very easily. Publicly traded stock, corporate bonds, government bonds, real estate, mutual funds, and derivatives are all examples of highly marketable investments. You will be required to collect financial statements and/or relevant financial information that detail the past three (3) years (fiscal or calendar) of the chosen investment. These statements can usually be located within the organization’s website under “investor information” or something similar. Many times, these statements can also be found on Yahoo! Finance, Google Finance, MSN Money, or Hoovers.

You will also be required to research your chosen investment’s price for the past five (5) years, as well as a related market index for this investment for the past five (5) years. An example of an applicable market index is the Standard & Poor’s Stock Market Index, commonly called the S&P 500. Select the highly marketable investment that you wish to research. Provide a brief (one [1] paragraph) explanation as to why you selected that particular investment.

List five (5) resources to demonstrate that there is enough information available regarding your selected investment. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements: Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

Selecting a highly marketable investment is a crucial step for any investor aiming to maximize liquidity and minimize potential difficulties in buying or selling assets at prevailing market prices. For this analysis, I have chosen to focus on publicly traded U.S. stocks, given their liquidity and extensive information availability. My particular focus is on a well-established technology company, Apple Inc., due to its significant influence on the stock market, consistent financial performance, and broad investor interest. Apple’s stock is traded on the NASDAQ, making it highly liquid and easily sellable at current market prices, fulfilling the requirement for an investment that can be quickly converted into cash.

The selection of Apple Inc. as the investment opportunity is grounded in its proven track record of robust financial health, innovation, and resilient market position. Apple has consistently demonstrated strong revenue growth and profitability over the past decade, driven by its diversified product line, including iPhones, iPads, and services. The company’s stock is a component of the S&P 500 index, reflecting its importance in the U.S. market and its role in a broad market benchmark. Moreover, Apple's extensive analyst coverage and publicly available annual and quarterly financial statements make it an ideal candidate for this research project.

To substantiate the availability of information, five credible resources have been identified. First, Apple Inc.’s official investor relations website provides comprehensive annual reports, financial statements, and SEC filings. Second, Yahoo! Finance offers detailed historical stock price data, related market indices, and financial summaries. Third, Google Finance provides accessible stock price charts and news updates relevant to Apple. Fourth, MSN Money supplies financial data, charts, and analysis tools suitable for tracking five-year price trends. Fifth, Hoovers offers detailed company profiles, industry comparisons, and financial overviews that facilitate in-depth research. These sources collectively ensure an ample and reliable information base for analyzing Apple’s financial performance and market positioning.

In summation, choosing Apple Inc. as a highly marketable U.S. stock aligns with the criteria of liquidity, data availability, and market significance. Based on publicly accessible financial reports and historical price data, a comprehensive analysis of Apple’s financial health, growth trajectory, and market influence can be effectively conducted to inform potential investment decisions.
