Sincerely, Justin Walter I was born in South Korea which is located the other side of America. I have a father, a mother and one old brother. Since I was the youngest child in my family, I am the luckiest one of my whole life. I had spent 20 years with my family and friends in South Korea. One day, I thought I needed the turning point of my life when I was 20, and then I had decided to do something special which I would never forget in my life. At that time, I wanted to travel America by myself, but my father never let me do that because he thought that I was too young to travel by myself. However, I wanted to prove that I can do it and old enough to do something that I want. I started to plan on it to persuade him. For example, budget, traveling route, and flight schedules. Finally, he had accepted it, and I could come to America. At the same time, he wanted me to stop by Kansas where my cousin lives, and study English and culture for a while. I thought, everything was going well as I have planned. In 2010 summer, I’ve came to Kansas and enrolled English program in UMKC. My cousin was 12 years older than me and we have not met for more than 10 years since she had moved to Kansas to get married. At first, she helped me a lot, I felt we are going to get along amazingly. She seemed nice and living well with her husband and her kid. However, as time went by, my cousin treated me weird. She sometimes locked the door when I came back from school, and then she never opened the door. Then, I had to wait until her husband got off from his work to get into the house. Sometimes, I did the dishes after dinner, but she threw pots and dishes away on the floor. The reason was she did not like that way I did the dishes. Besides, when I have a dinner with her family, she cussed at me in front of everybody with no reason. She always makes small things to a big deal, and seems enjoying pick up the flights. After 2 or 3 months, she eventually kicked me out of her house. The reason was I went to watch the baseball game with my friends even though she gave me a permission when I asked her if I could go watch the game before I leave. After I was kicked out by her, all of my friends tried to help me out since they already knew how I lived and stayed in her house. Some of them even think that this might be a good chance to leave for better condition. However, my parents were extremely worried about me and wanted me to come back to Korea. Strangely, I made a huge decision in the other way. I would rather stay and study than going back to Korea. I wanted to show her I can settle down in American without her help, and I wanted to prove that I am not that young anymore to my father. Thanks to my amazing friends, I started to get my own place, a car and be able to focus on my study. Finally, in 2015 summer, my last semester got done successfully. A lot of things have happened while I stay in America without family who support me all the time and believe me unquestioningly. Still, I believe that every happening became my flesh and blood. Especially, my cousin is the one who makes me stronger and more patient. I am thankful everything that made me hard and frustrated.
