Among these benefits, increased safety is paramount, with AVs poised to reduce traffic accidents caused by human error, which accounts for over 90% of crashes (Fagnant & Kockelman, 2015). The integration of AVs promises a decline in accidents stemming from distracted driving, fatigue, or impaired judgment, thereby potentially saving thousands of lives annually (Anderson et al., 2016). Moreover, autonomous cars can improve mobility for the elderly and disabled, fostering greater social inclusion and independence for populations often limited by their physical abilities.

From an economic perspective, AVs could lead to significant savings related to healthcare costs, property damage, and insurance premiums. Reduced accidents and smoother traffic flow can decrease congestion and emissions, contributing to ecological benefits by lowering greenhouse gases and pollutants (Wu et al., 2019). Enhanced traffic efficiency could also diminish fuel consumption, aiding in environmental preservation. Additionally, the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles might stimulate economic growth by creating new markets for vehicle technology, data services, and infrastructure development.

However, the proliferation of AVs raises regulatory and legal questions, especially concerning liability and insurance.
