God’s Perspective on Business Integrity

God’s perspective on business integrity underscores its divine importance as highlighted throughout biblical scripture and Christian theology. According to Keller (2013), integrity reflects the character of God—truthfulness, faithfulness, and righteousness—attributes that God expects His followers and, by extension, His followers’ organizations, to emulate. The Bible emphasizes honesty and transparency as paramount virtues in business dealings, as seen in Proverbs 11:1, which states, “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.” This indicates that integrity in commerce is not merely a social virtue but a divine requirement. Furthermore, God’s perspective emphasizes that integrity should be exercised consistently, regardless of external circumstances or potential gains, exemplified in Proverbs 20:7, “The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.” From a theological standpoint, acting with integrity aligns individuals and organizations with God's moral order, establishing a foundation for justice and righteousness. Over the duration of this course, my decision models have evolved significantly. Initially, I primarily relied on a cost-benefit analysis paradigm, which sometimes overlooked ethical nuances. Through reflective learning and exposure to biblical principles and scholarly literature, I have integrated a values-based approach that prioritizes moral virtues alongside outcome assessments. Specifically, I now consider the broader spiritual and societal implications of my decisions, recognizing the importance of acting in a manner consistent with biblical teachings on honesty, justice, and stewardship. This transformation has enhanced my capacity for ethical discernment, making my decision-making process more aligned with divine principles and fostering a deeper sense of integrity in my leadership practices.
