Directions: Select an individual from the list above as the subject for the 7-8 page research paper. You will also be responsible for a 5–10 minute long presentation based on your research topic. A multimedia visual aid is required, that is, PowerPoint or Prezi, using YouTube footage and clips. You must email Ms. Lowell to request a topic (an individual) by the due date given. Only one (1) student per class per subject. Your paper must utilize a minimum of six (6) SECONDARY sources, one of which must be a book (PRIMARY SOURCE). All SECONDARY sources must be from an online database. Wikipedia, Answer.com, About.com, etc. are not acceptable sources. You will need to use newspaper websites, journal articles, and “scholarly websites.” Your paper must be formatted and cited using MLA style. This includes in-text citations and a Works Cited page. Use the OWL Purdue Online Writing Lab website. Per department policy, any paper not uploaded to Turnitin on the due date will lose 15 points per day. Any paper not uploaded to Turnitin within 5 days of the due date will be given a 0. Hard Copy required with a works cited list. For the Presentation: Students can use Google Slides, Google PowerPoint, PowerPoint, or Prezi. There should be about 10-15 slides in your presentation, including a “Works Cited” slide. Students are REQUIRED to share the presentation with Ms. Lowell on Google Drive.
