My experience at SIUE has been really great and adventurous until now. Let me start with sharing my own personal experience at SIUE. I was contacted by the International Hospitality Program as soon as I landed, which helped me settle down in a new environment. They also offered me advice on banking, shopping, laundry, automobile, housing, and health concerns. The friends I made on that day are still in my life, helping and sorting things out. At first, I had a hard time switching my major from nutrition to nursing, but then everything fell into place.

The staff here is so helpful and kind that they would explain each detail and guide you throughout the process. I was very excited to celebrate my festival at an abroad university with my own people. I was full of enthusiasm to encourage others to lend a hand in organizing and putting up the festival. I participated in Diwali night as well as international night, expressing my culture at my university. That was a great moment for me to showcase my culture with immense pride and emotions, which was later flooded with likes and comments on my Instagram page.

My senior roommates have been a huge part of my help in the IHP and organizing all Indian events. We had a good group of Indian people running all the events and festivals. I am a nursing student and I feel lucky to have been accepted into SIUE’s Nursing Program, which is considered one of the top ten nursing programs in Illinois. I usually don’t have to promote my nursing program because our nursing school is already famous, respected, and provides a valued degree at a very affordable tuition rate in Illinois.

I have my clinical rotations in nearby hospitals like Saint Elizabeth, Belleville Memorial East, Anderson, and Saint Louis Children’s Hospital, which are some of the highly regarded clinical agencies. Believe me, I get a lot of respect and appreciation just by saying that “I am an SIUE nursing student.” All the nurses there revive their memories of nursing school, and they know that new students are also trained by experienced and licensed instructors. The high-quality faculty instruction and student preparation led to a 94% pass rate in the School of Nursing National Council Licensure Examination for undergraduate students.

By observing my success, my two former roommates have decided to switch their majors to nursing, which has been a huge achievement for me. Inspiring someone to pursue extraordinary goals and step into a path of success has shown prominent results for me and my family. Nursing is an amazing opportunity, especially during the pandemic.

The USA needs great nurses, and there has been a significant shortage of nursing staff. Many universities are initiating their online nursing programs for the first time to help address this shortage. Nevertheless, SIUE stands out in its thinking. SIUE is committed to achieving extraordinary results and believes that an online nursing program won't suffice in creating great nurses. SIUE continues with clinical rotations to allow its students to engage with real-world experiences and make the most of these opportunities. My nursing program enables me to promote SIUE with each and every patient-nurse interaction.
