Most successful people have dreams…a vision of what they want in life. As a college student, you are in the process of dreaming about a new future, a new career, and a new world of ideas and knowledge.
You are looking for your purpose in life. You might be undecided (which is normal for new college students), but go with your “gut feelings”.

Envisioning my future ten years from now, I see my life shaped by a harmonious combination of personal growth, professional achievement, and meaningful relationships. My quality world in a decade will include completing my college education, establishing a fulfilling career in a field that aligns with my passions and skills, nurturing strong relationships with family and friends, and cultivating core values such as integrity, compassion, and perseverance. Material possessions will not define my happiness; instead, I will value experiences and personal development. I see myself as someone who demonstrates resilience, curiosity, and a commitment to lifelong learning, constantly seeking to improve and contribute to society.
One significant barrier that could hinder me from reaching this vision is a lack of motivation, especially if I become uncertain about my career path or feel overwhelmed by academic pressures. This barrier might lead to procrastination or loss of focus, which would impede my progress. Without a clear sense of purpose or direction, I might struggle to stay committed to my goals, thereby postponing or even abandoning my aspirations altogether.
To overcome this obstacle, I will set a specific, actionable goal: within the next month, I will visit the Career Services office to take a comprehensive interest and aptitude assessment, and I will research at least two potential majors or career paths that correspond with my interests and strengths. This will help clarify my purpose, boost my motivation, and guide my academic decisions. By actively engaging in self-exploration, I can build confidence in my choices and keep my vision of the future alive and attainable.
