Nervous Tissue And Spinal Cord: Project And Leveraging Knowl ✓ Solved
Nervous Tissue and Spinal Cord: Project and Leveraging Knowledge
Chose one Topic to write about: 1. Nervous Tissue 2. The Spinal Cord, Spinal Nerves, and Somatic Reflexes 3. The Brain and Cranial Nerves 4. The Autonomic Nervous System and Visceral Reflexes 5. Sense Organs. First question: What was your favorite topic this week? What did you enjoy? Find a video that relates to this topic. You will create 4 short paragraphs. Please organize your post to earn points.
Overview: 1. Research: Students will briefly summarize a video that relates to their favorite topic this week. Locate and give the full page of the URL to a video in APA formatting (cite in text and reference) that pertains to your favorite topic this week. It is not unlike a main discussion post. Summarize the video in 50 words. Cite in the text. Reference at the end. If the URL is not given and cannot be verified, points will not be earned for this section. Documentation of sources is necessary.
2. System Check: Relate your topic from this week to another system in the body. Demonstrate and show how this information is connected to other functions in the body. Please illustrate how this system is interrelated to another system in the body. Compare and contrast structure. Provide examples from the text. Cite and reference the text.
3. Apply the importance of this information at different levels (individual/career, society, world). What was the most significant connection you made with the material this week? How is your topic showing up in the news these days? Explain why this video is important. Tell me why this topic may be important to your future career. How can you apply this topic of anatomy to your career or your community? Society? Give a detailed example. Be specific about this; Do not only say it is important but explain why it is important.
4. Weekly Self Reflection: What resources do you think helped you most this week to help you understand? What challenges did you have with the material? What improvements can you make this week to implement for next week?
Expectations: · 250+ words minimum. · Thoughtful, substantial and factual information is required. · This must be written in your own words. · Direct quotes must be cited. Demonstrate comprehension of material. APA references and citations are expected when sources are used.
LEADERSHIP PROJECT: This is a project which you must design. You decide what you want to do and how you will achieve it. The main constraint is that the project must in some way be related to making a difference via leadership. This may NOT be related to any assignment from another course. This is a unique project for this course. You must select a team and train them to complete the project with you. You must submit a draft of your project for approval.
Below are some examples to stimulate your creative thinking: o Develop a Service Project o Enlist others to complete the project under your guidance o Provide them with training o Have a clear plan of action o Participate and complete the service project. Other Ideas: o Get involved and take action within the university, community, or an organization with a NEW effort to create a change you want to see take place.
While Completing Your Project: o Create a video clip on leadership o OR Take pictures and create a slideshow.
DELIVERABLES: • A PowerPoint presentation (8-15 slides) presented live or with speaking notes for each slide if you do not present to the class OR present your video.
HEADINGS: You should include the following sections: THE GOAL - What you intend to achieve with the project THE PLAN - How you created and carried out the project THE PEOPLE - Who you enlisted to work with you THE OUTCOMES - What others learned or remember from the experience PERSONAL IMPROVEMENT - How you grew and what you learned as a result of this project LEADERSHIP LESSONS - What you suggest for others to focus on if they want to grow and improve as leaders. This project is designed to help you assimilate the many topics, discussions, and presentations you have engaged in during the entire semester. You should put your best effort into this project and finish strong.
Paper For Above Instructions
This week's focus was on Nervous Tissue, particularly its vital role in the overall function of the nervous system. My favorite topic was the neurological connectivity presented through a video titled "Understanding Nervous Tissue" by Khan Academy (Khan Academy, 2022). This 5-minute video discusses the structure and function of nervous tissue, including neurons and glial cells, effectively illustrating how these components work together to facilitate communication within the body. The video succinctly highlights major concepts in neurology necessary for both understanding basic neuroscience and clinical applications.
The nervous system is profoundly interrelated with the endocrine system. While the nervous system communicates through electrical signals, the endocrine system utilizes hormones. Together, they maintain homeostasis by coordinating bodily functions. For instance, the hypothalamus bridges these two systems, controlling both hormonal balance and autonomic processes (Guyton & Hall, 2016). This interdependency becomes evident in stress responses, where adrenal hormones complement neurological reactions, thus showcasing the integration of two crucial systems for survival and adaptation.
The importance I applied from this week extends into various facets: personally in my career, society at large, and even globally. Consequently, my exploration into the role of nervous tissue resonates well with current media discussions on mental health, especially post-pandemic, where the impact of stress on neurological functions is highlighted. The implications for future careers, especially in healthcare, are significant. Understanding nervous tissue leads to better management strategies for neurological disorders and improved patient care systems. For example, with the rising cases of anxiety disorders linked to stress, integrating knowledge from this topic can directly benefit interventions in community outreach programs focusing on mental health (Smith, 2023).
Reflecting on my learning resources this week, online platforms like Khan Academy and relevant neuroscience texts were particularly beneficial in grasping the complexities of the nervous system. However, challenges arose with the intricacies of anatomical terms and their physiological implications. Moving forward, I plan to dedicate more time to visual learning aids and group discussions to deepen comprehension and retention of this intricate material.
For the leadership project, I propose a community service initiative aimed at enhancing mental health awareness and education within our university. THE GOAL is to raise awareness through workshops and seminars featuring health professionals to educate students about the significance of mental well-being as part of overall health. THE PLAN involves collaborating with counseling services and recruiting fellow students to facilitate these educational sessions. THE PEOPLE include peers from various backgrounds in psychology, health sciences, and general education, ensuring a diversity of perspectives in our outreach.
THE OUTCOMES will provide students with actionable knowledge and resources to address mental health concerns, promoting a supportive campus environment. PERSONAL IMPROVEMENT gained from this will involve enhanced organizational skills, public speaking, and leadership qualities while navigating group dynamics. Finally, LEADERSHIP LESSONS will focus on the importance of empathy, communication, and adaptability which are essential for effective leadership in community projects.
