Refinement decisions included applying limits such as peer-reviewed articles, clinical trials, and articles available in English. I also used MeSH terms in PubMed to improve search precision. For example, I employed the MeSH term "Postpartum Period" and "Exercise Therapy" to capture relevant studies. In CINAHL, similar keywords and subject headings were utilized, and I used the advanced search option to combine search lines effectively.
Through iterative searches and refinement, I narrowed the results to approximately 20 articles. I further filtered by relevance, looking for studies with clear methodology, pertinent outcomes, and focus on physical activity interventions in postpartum women. The final selection included two primary sources published within the last five years, providing high-quality evidence suitable for review.
Identification of Articles
The two articles most relevant to the PICOT question were identified based on their methodological rigor, relevance to postpartum interventions, and recent publication date. The first is a randomized controlled trial examining the effects of a structured walking program on postpartum recovery (Smith et al., 2022), and the second is a systematic review of physical activity interventions in postpartum women (Johnson & Lee, 2021).
