Paper Proposal Abstract And Thesis Statement Instructions

Paper Proposal Abstract And Thesis Statement Instructionsthe Paper P

The Paper Proposal assignment is divided into 2 parts: 1. The first part consists of writing an abstract of why you chose to write about this particular literary work. 2. The second part consists of writing a tentative thesis statement. It is called tentative thesis statement because you may change it after you received feedback. Refer to the prompts below in order to create a research proposal that will provide you direction and a strong basis for your writing. In addition, I will have the opportunity to look over your progress and help guide you toward an even stronger writing project. The assignment does not consist of answering to these prompts. These are suggestions to be considered toward its development. 1. What is the working title for your essay? 2. Explain your interest in this topic. In other words, why did you choose this subject to write on (beyond it simply being in your field of study)? 3. What is the tentative claim/thesis of your essay? You should express this idea in 1-2 sentences, so make sure that your claim is as specific as possible. (Note: This argument may alter in scope and focus as you progress; you are not wholly committed to it.) 4. No word count, but usually one page in length. 5. How will your research and writing help to inform and/or benefit your audience? In other words, what is the larger goal of arguing about this topic? Works Cited 1 Ajuria Ibarra, Enrique. This is the Works Cited page with 5 sources of reference. Remember it should be listed in alphabetical order. Now, I will write an Annotated Bibliography of each of the 5 sources. · An annotation is a summary and/or evaluation. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. This is what to do for this assignment: The task is to write 2 paragraphs for each source: Paragraph 1 is a summary of the source (book, article, essay, interview, magazine, journal, Website, etc.) Paragraph 2 is about why you chose this source. How does it contribute to the points you are arguing on your essay? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paragraph #1 Summarize: Some annotations merely summarize the source. · What are the main arguments? · What is the point of this book or article? · What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? · The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is. Paragraph #2 Reflect: Once you've summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research. · Was this source helpful to you? · How does it help you shape your argument? · How can you use this source in your research project? · Has it changed how you think about your topic? Please see the PowerPoint, videos, and samples uploaded on Blackboard Now, you can work on the Annotated Bibliography! (See Below) Cronos Annotated Bibliography · In the sample annotation, the writer includes 2 paragraphs: · 1- A summary of the source, · 2- An evaluation of the text and/or a reflection on its applicability to his/her own research, respectively. · The Annotated Bibliography must be based on the open topic chosen and developed on the Outline Worksheet and Paper Proposal (Thesis and Abstract) No Word Count Please see below: The 5 sources are developed on the following topics related to Guillermo del Toro’s works: 1) Ajuria Ibarra, Enrique — discuss Ghosts and national trauma in "The Devil's Backbone". 2) Chun, Kimberly — interview on Guillermo del Toro and his portrayal of the supernatural. 3) Davies, Ann et al. — analysis of Guillermo Del Toro’s transnational fantasies, focusing on monsters. 4) Davies, Laurence — exploration of gothic and sci-fi themes in "Cronos". 5) Morehead, John W. — focus on del Toro's love for monsters and creative artistry. The final argumentative research project involves choosing a topic, creating a research proposal, developing an annotated bibliography, completing pre-writing steps, and writing the full argumentative essay.
