• Example of a city government services website within your county.
• Example of the city's representation system: mayor-council vs. council-manager system.
• Example of a county's limited-purpose special district or a regional government addressing a specific problem.

Search for government websites based on three of the above questions. Use Google or the LA County website to locate the sites, and provide the URLs with labels or titles. Explain briefly how you found each site and how it answers the question.

Part 2: Census and Demographics

Provide two websites with data relevant to your selected government websites. The data should include demographic, economic, or geographic information related to your district or county area. Include the URLs, zip code, and a brief description of the data category and how you located the information.

Suggested sources include:

First, I identified a local municipal government website to exemplify the legal framework—specifically, examining whether the city operates under a general-law or charter form of government. Using a combination of the LA County map and a web search, I located the City of Pasadena’s official website (https://ww2.cityofpasadena.net/), which is governed by a city charter. This site was found through a Google search of “Pasadena City Government official website,” confirming its jurisdictional authority and legal structure. This example illustrates a charter city with autonomous governance powers, contrasting with general-law cities that follow state statutes directly.

Second, I chose a regional government entity involved in addressing regional issues. The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board (https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/losangeles/) was selected. This site was accessible via the California Water Boards' official portal and exemplifies regional governance tasked with water quality management, pollution control, and resource sustainability. The website’s content highlights the board's regulatory authority over multiple jurisdictions, emphasizing its role in environmental problem-solving.

Third, I examined a city’s services through the City of Long Beach’s official website (https://www.longbeach.gov/). This site was located by searching “Long Beach City Government” and provides extensive information on city services such as public safety, housing, transportation, and urban planning. The website underscores how a city manages diverse service areas directly impacting residents’ quality of life, and it exemplifies the service delivery functions of local government.

For demographic and census data, I used the Los Angeles County Census 2020 resources (https://census.ca.gov/data/county-data/) to gather population, economic, and social characteristics of my district’s zip code. Additionally, the Los Angeles Almanac (https://www.laalmanac.com/) provided detailed statistics on income levels, racial composition, and community infrastructure. I specifically examined data for zip code 90804, associated with Long Beach, to understand the community’s demographic profile.

The government websites I selected demonstrate varied facets of local governance—from legal structures to regional environmental regulation and direct city services—highlighting their relevance for understanding local administrative systems. The census data offers vital context about the population’s socio-economic conditions, essential for policy planning and resource allocation.
