Part 1 – Personal Reflection From your personal and professional experience, select those that address leadership approaches and ethics. Prepare a document that explains your approach to leadership (approaches include trait, behavior, situational, relational, transformational; and emerging leadership approaches, such as adaptive, authentic, spiritual, servant, and gender-based). Be very clear in your description of your ethical code of conduct and standards of excellence. Save this assignment to aid you in completing Week 8’s Final Project.
Part 2 – Scholarly Analysis After you have completed Part 1 – Personal Reflection, conduct scholarly research and analysis.
These five articles will be used for References page and in-text citations for the final project. Using EBSCOhost, explore the leadership literature regarding ethical codes, professional misconduct, and leadership approaches that relate to your Part 1-My personal Leadership Approaches and Ethics content. Find at least five articles published within the past five years for this annotated bibliography. Your task is to prepare an annotated bibliography of these five articles. An annotated bibliography consists of the APA style citation of the article, a brief overview of the authors’ credentials, a summary of the article, and your notes about how this article is useful (i.e. how you intend to apply the information you gleaned). Remember that our underlying objective is for you to become familiar with the current literature of the field (as a professional must do to keep abreast of current trends), and to apply what you have learned.

Introduction
Leadership is a fundamental component of organizational success and integrity. My personal approach to leadership is rooted in a combination of transformational and authentic leadership styles, emphasizing both inspiring change and maintaining honesty and transparency. This reflection explores my leadership approach, ethical standards, and how I plan to incorporate scholarly insights to strengthen my professional practice.
Personal Leadership Approach and Ethics
My leadership philosophy integrates aspects of transformational and authentic leadership. I believe in inspiring my team through a shared vision, motivating individuals to exceed their own expectations, and fostering an environment of trust and openness. Transformational leadership, as described by Bass and Riggio (2018), emphasizes empowering followers and promoting innovation, which aligns with my goal to cultivate a dynamic and motivated team.
Simultaneously, I uphold authentic leadership principles by maintaining honesty, self-awareness, and ethical conduct. My ethical code of conduct is anchored in integrity, accountability, and respect for all individuals. I believe that ethical standards are paramount; they influence not only personal credibility but also organizational reputation. My standards of excellence include transparency in decision-making, fairness in interactions, and commitment to continuous improvement. I hold myself accountable to these principles and strive to set a positive example for others.
My approach emphasizes relational leadership—building meaningful relationships with team members to foster collaboration and trust. I recognize the importance of situational leadership, adapting my style to meet the needs of different circumstances and individuals. This flexibility ensures that I remain effective and ethical across diverse contexts.
Scholarly Research and Application
The scholarly articles I plan to explore will focus on ethical leadership, misconduct prevention, and contemporary leadership approaches. For instance, Brown and Treviño (2019) examine ethical climate and its influence on leadership behavior. Their work highlights the significance of organizational culture in fostering ethical standards, which I intend to incorporate into my leadership development efforts.
Similarly, article by Walumbwa et al. (2020) explores authentic leadership and its impact on organizational commitment. Understanding these insights helps me reinforce the importance of genuine leadership and aligns with my value of transparency.
Additionally, research by Momaya et al. (2018) emphasizes adaptive leadership in response to rapid change—an increasingly relevant approach in today’s dynamic workplace. Applying adaptive strategies ensures resilience and ethical responsiveness amid challenges.
The importance of ethical codes to prevent misconduct is underscored in studies by Treviño and Nelson (2017), which I will review to refine my understanding of ethical benchmarks and promote a culture of integrity within my team.
Conclusion
My personal leadership approach is a blend of transformational, authentic, and adaptive styles, underscoring ethics as a central pillar. The integration of scholarly literature will support my growth as an ethical leader aligned with current trends. By continuously reflecting on and applying this knowledge, I aim to foster a leadership environment characterized by integrity, innovation, and trust.
