When encountering problems or work specification nonconformances, solving them with emotional intelligence skills becomes straightforward. EI skills in a place of employment is a crucial component for a successful business. To avoid chronic stress and embrace challenging encounters or human error, emotional intelligence skills help alleviate hardships and promote a well-rounded work environment. The competencies within emotional intelligence skills help increase productivity, halt chronic stress, and encourage both development and a well-rounded work environment.
By "developing and implementing intervention programs to promote EI and create healthy workplaces that can prevent the development or chronic progression of burnout in employees, helping workers reach their best performance possible" (Sanchez-Gomez and Breso, 2020 p. 9). Therefore, Propulsion Controls Engineering will be discussing a workable plan to improve the emotional skills and competencies of PCE employees. The emotional skills and competencies include; self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Self-Awareness Self-Awareness is the potential to understand our own emotions.
Understanding our feelings and the effects we have on others will help us become better individuals and leaders. Self-awareness gives you the ability to know why you feel the way you are and have the aptitude for dealing with it in a healthy quick manner. The key is to understand when interacting with others how your emotions affect them. With greater self-awareness, the more you will have a sense of your strengths and limitations. (Vigoda-Gadot and Meisler, 2010), "Emotionally intelligent individuals are more self-aware concerning their strong points and weaknesses, providing benefits to organizations aiming to acquire competitive advantage via flexibility, swift reaction, and change innovation." Companies are often seeking emotional intelligence skills in the applicants and have a strong sense of self-awareness.
Take, for example, a boss who is stubborn, abrasive, and set in his ways. Emotions like this can be challenging. A boss's environment like this is building could cause others to shut down and struggle to excel. If this boss is not aware of how he is coming across to his employees, it could be detrimental to the company. We must all have self-awareness, acknowledge the areas that need work, and adjust.
No one is perfect; however, we all have areas we can improve. Showing a high level of self-awareness can lead you to many more possibilities in your career. This best practice can alleviate the majority of the stress that causes failure. Planning is similar to time management, but it could refer to inventory. Knowing what the company's resources are and what it has is great, but knowing what the company needs, supply-wise will benefit just as much and prevent failure.
Taking notes can help maintain organization and eliminate stresses caused by forgetfulness. Just a simple message can be the difference of a job well done versus disaster. Taking time throughout the day to decompress during lunch or breaks is a mental refresher and a great way to collect thoughts while getting back on task. Because this is such a crucial moment throughout the day, it is best to take full advantage of the downtime and reflect. As a boss or a supervisor, it is essential to be observant and keep a watchful eye on how people react.

Emotional intelligence makes a positive difference in the workplace and leads to better decision-making. Lastly, it is the skills and competencies within self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management that improve productivity, halting chronic stress, and an overall well-balanced work environment.
